The Time is Now to Recruit H.R. 4229 Co-sponsors!

When Congress returns this week after the Thanksgiving break, the House of Representatives is set to be in session for just 12 more days in 2017.  With that tight timetable and a wealth of other pressing business on Capitol Hill, it’s critical that the HME community make a concerted effort in the coming week to ask your legislators to sign on to HR 4229, the Protecting Home Oxygen and Medical Equipment Access Act – is your legislator on board yet?

AAHomecare has provided convenient tools for making your legislative contacts on their Action Center.  They have posted grassroots letters in support of the bill – both an "ask" letter as well as a "thank you" letter if your legislator has already signed on.  There are two Members of Congress on the bill from the Great Lakes states still today, both in Indiana:  Rep. Larry Bucshon, MD (R) and Rep. Pete Visclosky (D).

If you have not yet contacted your legislators, please reach out to their office this week to ask that they co-sponsor HR 4229!  Time is running out to get this bill passed.
Refer to the issue briefs on rural reimbursement relief and oxygen “double dip” cuts for background information and details or use the resources mentioned above on the AAHomecare website.

Direct contact with your legislators or their staff truly makes a difference in raising awareness and getting more co-sponsors on board.  Please keep the pressure on as we enter the final weeks of 2017!  Email Gordon Barnes at for contact information for healthcare staff with your Representative.  Email Kam Yuricich at for any questions or needed support.
